Why Homeowners Choose Area Home Services
Choosing a company to work on your property is a big decision. You are inviting a crew into your yard, trusting them with a major outdoor project, and relying on them to communicate clearly. We build that trust by combining local roots with a very structured way of working.
Our business is family- and veteran-owned, and we are headquartered in Quincy. That means we live and work in the same neighborhoods where we install fences. We understand how important it is to show up when we say we will, to respect your property and your neighbors, and to leave the site looking clean when the project is finished.
Every fence project follows a checklist that we have refined through years of hands-on home improvement work. This checklist covers layout, post setting, alignment, hardware, gates, and finishing details. It gives our team a clear path to follow and helps us catch small issues before they become problems you can see later.
Because our professionals are insured and experienced with residential and light commercial projects, clients know they are working with a team that takes responsibility seriously. You are not dealing with a one-time crew that disappears after the job. You are working with a local company that plans to be part of the Quincy community for a long time.
We also focus heavily on communication. From appointment confirmations to schedule updates, our office keeps you informed so you are not left wondering when people will arrive. During the project, our team walks you through what is happening, answers questions, and reviews the work with you before we wrap up.
Many clients come to us for fence work and then ask for help with other projects such as painting, handyman tasks, or concrete coatings. Working with one reliable team across multiple projects can make it easier to plan how your property will look and function season after season.
Our Fence Installation Process
Knowing what to expect from start to finish can make your decision much easier. We follow a consistent process for fence installation that keeps your project moving and gives you clear points to review and approve each step.
It begins with a conversation and a visit to your property in the Quincy area. We listen to what you want from your fence, such as privacy, security, or a clear boundary, and we look at how your yard is laid out. During this visit we talk through height, layout, gate locations, and general material preferences, then gather measurements and site details.
After the visit, we prepare a clear written estimate for your fence project. This outlines the proposed layout and scope for the installation. At this stage we can also discuss financing options so you can choose a payment approach that fits your plans. Because the estimate is free, you can ask questions and make adjustments before you commit.
Once you approve the project, we schedule your installation and send confirmation details. Our team plans the work using our internal checklist, which includes items such as material staging, post depth, alignment checks, and hardware placement. This checklist guides the crew on site so key steps are addressed in a consistent order.
During the installation days, we arrive in professional attire, review the plan with you, and confirm any key details such as gate swing or minor layout refinements. We work to organize materials and tools so the jobsite stays as orderly as possible while work is in progress. If weather or site conditions require schedule changes, we communicate with you promptly so there are no surprises.
As the fence takes shape, we continue to use our checklist and visual checks to review post plumb, panel alignment, and gate function. Before we consider the project complete, our crew walks the fence line with you. This walkthrough is your chance to see the finished work up close, ask questions, and point out anything you would like us to review again.
At the end of the project, we collect our tools and unused materials, tidy the work area within reasonable limits, and talk through basic care tips for your new fence. Our goal is that you are comfortable with what was done and how the fence will serve your property in the months ahead.
Fence Options for Quincy Properties
Every property in Quincy is a little different, and your fence should match how you use your outdoor space. Some clients want full privacy around a backyard, while others need a simple way to keep pets safe or define the edge of a commercial lot. We help you choose an approach that fits your goals.
We work with common fence styles that tend to perform well in this part of Illinois. Wood privacy fences are a frequent choice for backyards because they provide coverage and a natural look. Vinyl fences appeal to clients who prefer lower maintenance. Chain link can be practical for side yards or commercial spaces where function is more important than appearance. Ornamental metal can add a more open, decorative look at the front of a property.
Local climate matters for fence design. Quincy sees hot summers, cold winters, and freeze-thaw cycles that can be tough on posts and footings. During your estimate, we consider how soil conditions and drainage may affect post depth and layout. This helps us talk honestly about what you can expect from different materials and designs in this area.
We also think about how your fence will fit with neighboring properties. In more established Quincy neighborhoods, property lines and existing structures can affect layout. We encourage you to share any information you have about lines or homeowner association guidelines so we can talk through them while we are planning.
Rather than pushing a single type of fence, we focus on what you want most from the project. If your priority is privacy, we help you think through height and layout. If your main concern is a secure space for a dog, we talk about gaps, gate latches, and how the fence meets the ground. That conversation during the estimate visit guides the design we propose.
What To Expect During Your Project
Understanding how a fence project may affect your daily routine can lower a lot of stress. We want you to know what our crew will do on site, how long the work is likely to take, and how we work around your family, pets, and neighbors.
On installation day, our team arrives within the agreed time window and checks in with you before starting work. We go over the plan, confirm final details, and point out where materials and tools will be staged. We work to protect landscaping within reasonable limits, for example by moving items that are in the path of the fence and planning material routes that avoid sensitive areas when possible.
The length of a project depends on the size and complexity of the fence. Many residential fences can be installed across one to several workdays. Irregular terrain, tight spaces, or complex layouts may require additional time. Weather can also affect timing in this region, especially if heavy rain or storms make it impractical to work in saturated soil.
Throughout the project, we keep communication open. If we see anything unexpected in the yard, such as buried objects or drainage concerns, we discuss it with you before moving ahead. If a schedule adjustment is needed, our office reaches out with updates so you know what to expect next.
Before we leave each day, we collect tools and materials into a designated area as much as the site allows. At the end of the project, we do a final cleanup of the work zone and walk the fence with you. This is your chance to see how gates operate, look closely at details, and talk through any final questions.
Simple steps to prepare for your fence project:
- Move personal items away from the fence line, such as furniture, toys, and grills.
- Secure pets indoors or in a separate area while work is in progress.
- Trim overgrown plants along the planned fence route if you wish to keep them.
- Share any information about underground utilities or sprinklers during the estimate.
- Let nearby neighbors know about the upcoming work if the fence is near their property.
Taking these steps before our crew arrives can help the project run more smoothly and reduce the need for last-minute changes while we are on site.

"They''re good at what they do."
They''re good at what they do.
I saw their work at the WGEM Home Show and asked them to come out and see what could be done with our 40 year old garage floor. They checked its moisture content, the floor quality, and we came to a color that seemed pretty nice.
And then the guys came and did the install. It took a day for them to get it done, and left us with a now beautiful floor and covered concrete sidewalls that previously had been nothing more than bare concrete, and were now integrated into the floor surface.
It all came together well, and was done expertly and carefully. I watched from time to time as the crew did their installation, and they knew well what they were doing and their experience showed.
Just sorry we hadn't thought of doing this a long time ago. You think that a garage is nothing more than a utility area until it gets dressed and becomes a neat feature to enter the house from.
